Who Is This Guy?
My name is Ryan McMillan and I am a professional photographer based in the Calgary area. Born and raised in Calgary I love the mountains, the Calgary Flames and mini doughnuts at the Calgary Stampede. I love hanging out with my family, going on mini adventures and taking pictures of my 5 children and the places we end up. Did I mention coffee, catching the first sight of hot air balloons in late summer, Christmas (Like the whole shebang) and coffee? I have lived here my whole life and I am still discovering new things that I love about Calgary.
Photography has been a part of my life for a long time and is something that I have found immense joy in. I believe that creating art is a process of exploring my passions, staying curious in the moment, and pursuing beauty everyday; sometimes I pursue this with a couple on their wedding day, or with a family and sometimes when I’m alone. Pursuing photography, for me anyways, is a never ending pursuit of beauty, learning and applying my skills in new ways and new settings. I have also taken the time to be formally trained in my photography as well. My training has been split between photography courses through SAIT and being mentored by Sean Leblanc of Sean Leblanc Photography.
I love working with people and capturing the moments that help tell their stories. These stories are unique and they matter! Whether this is your story of starting a new life together or as a growing family it needs to be captured. Whether we are in an urban setting, a park close by or having a mini adventure in the Rockies I love capturing the moments that matter to people.
My style is one that is dominated by a love of colour (though black/white stills are needed at times), a love of nature and a love for people being themselves. My goal in each photography session is to coach/guide where it is needed, laugh alongside my clients and capture the candid moments along the way.
Travel is not an issue for me; I am comfortable working wherever you are. Capturing moments that matter is what I love to do; let's tell your story!
